“I hope this helps to inspire others like I have been inspired by Race At Your Pace!”

I started out with Race At Your Pace challenges after a friend started a walking challenge in January 2019. I felt very inspired by what she had set out to do, and as I have been challenged with ill health and needed to start building up my walking, I decided to give Race At Your Pace a go.

When I originally started in August 2019, I also used it as a challenge to help raise money for a charity called PHAUK. PHAUK is an organisation for people with pulmonary hypertension. Pulmonary hypertension is a lifelong condition which I suffer from, so because they had been such a great charity, I wanted to be able to give something back.

As time went on, I completed walking challenges every month until June.

When we got to March 2020, it became slightly more difficult as I had to begin shielding as a vulnerable person. I carried on the challenge but instead of going out to walk, I had to take to walking a mile each day in my garden, which was slightly frustrating.

When shielding patients were eventually allowed out for exercise, I decided to get an electric bike to change up my challenges and recently I have set myself a cycling challenge of riding 100miles.

Although it has been a difficult time trying to find ways to exercise, as someone with a health condition,  eventually being allowed out properly for exercise has felt good. Taking up a new challenge of riding a bike which I have not done in 20 years.

I hope this helps to inspire others like I have been inspired by Race At Your Pace!
