Running started for me as an escape from home schooling and the madness that has been the home for the past 6 months.

“Running started for me as an escape from home schooling and the madness that has been the home for the past 6 months.”

6 months ago I couldn’t get 500 metres without stopping and struggling. Slowly and gradually with the support of my husband, I became stronger and over the past few months I have believed in myself and have taken the step to take part in Race At Your Pace to achieve milestones and as a last memory of how you can achieve anything if you work hard! This is something we try to install into our children and now my daughter is taking part to achieve her 5km running medal.

Race At Your Pace is perfect for me as I get to choose the distance and challenge ahead. I keep track of my distance on my Fitbit and I can run when it suits me i.e. around children‚ mealtimes and activities. I set myself a challenge to be around 70% achieved by midway through the month with the view that if I am ahead, I can achieve more.

Running for me has also proved a great way to lose weight. As I have focused and set goals along the way I am really pleased to say I have also lost a stone in weight through my journey.

For me my running journey is – Escape-Focus-Achieve-Inspire
